Sweden : Scholarship

  • Anywhere

When I think of Sweden independence, high standard of living, gender equality, innovation and openness immediately come to my mind. This is a country that is at forefront of many fields, from social and gender equality to technology, innovation and sustainable development. This is a country that can offer a truly unique study abroad experience, that will leave you with many lessons learned.

Swedish Institute Scholarships for: Master, PhD and Postdoc studies

I was one of the lucky students to be awarded the Swedish Institute scholarship and have had the pleasure to spend two years in Sweden while pursuing my Master’s degree in Psychology. This was one of the best and most rewarding experiences in my life.  Thankfully, Swedish Institute is offering amazing scholarships that can help you as well experience the Swedish educational system and at the same time learn more about the Swedish way of life. Trust me this country will leave you in awe! If you want to learn more about what it is like to live and study there, please do look at this Study in Sweden blog where you will get to read about experiences of international students studying in all parts of Sweden.

Swedish Institute is a Swedish public agency that promotes Sweden around the world and helps reach country goals concerning foreign policy, education, international aid and development. They also offer a very well developed scholarship program for Master, PhD and Postdoc studies. The conditions will vary according to the type of scholarship you want to apply to, so make sure to check the full list of scholarship programs here.  One of their biggest programs is the Swedish Institute Study Scholarships scheme that awards over 300 scholarships each year to ambitious students from developing countries (OECD/DAC list) to pursue full time Master studies in Sweden!

What does it offer?

The SI scholarships offer full funding, including tuition fees, monthly stipend that covers living costs, airfare ticket and health insurance. You also become a part of their Network for Future Global Leaders (NFGL). Being a part of this network means  you have access to a number of events that will teach you about sustainability, human rights, innovation and many other relevant topics while at the same time you get to network with other talented scholarship holders from all over the world.

At the end of my scholarship period we had a graduation ceremony that was held at the Stockholm City Hall where Nobel Prize banquet is held and it was a truly magical experience. With this scholarship you don’t just get to experience world class education, but you also get inspired to actively pursue the things you believe in. It is definitely more than just a scholarship.
